Although alcoholic beverages are now being served at eating and drinking points, there are still restrictions on the number of people and the time of day, so we can't go out drinking as freely as before. I hope that the Corona disaster will subside soon.
In the meantime, we've stocked up on some summer sake for home drinking. This is the "Biroku" series "Summer" special junmai Yamadanishiki 55, first drink of the series, from Otokoyama Honten in Kesennuma, Miyagi Prefecture, who also brewed the Daiginjo sake approved for the morning drama "Welcome Back Monet". The packaging is unique and the bottle has a summer feel to it. The taste is said to be in the process of maturing from new sake, but it has no peculiarities and the umami and acidity are well balanced and easy to drink. If you drink it chilled, you'll drink too much. We are told that the taste of sake changes as time goes by, so we would like to taste it while feeling the summer.
