We are visiting the Shimokita Peninsula in Aomori Prefecture.
I wanted a local sake to go with the seafood for dinner, and this was the one recommended at the liquor store. There was also a draft sake available, but I chose the fire-brewed version because I didn't want it to get cold while carrying it around.
The sake from Shimokita seems to be for the local market, such as honjozo.
I couldn't wait for dinner time to open it and found it to be 😋 delicious on its own.
The aroma is mild, but the acidity is firm, yet full-bodied. However, it is not rich in nuance and has a good sharpness. It is said to be a sake to go with fresh seafood, inspired by Hachinohe's squid fishing from summer to fall.
