KOEIKU/SNOW CRESCENT/Ouyama-Nishiki/Unfiltered unpasteurized sake
4.0
Purchased online for the first time for drinking at home.
It has a well-balanced acidity and a bubbly taste reminiscent of "Abe". For a moment, I even thought it was Abe.
Along with the effervescence, it has a sweet taste like lychee. The bittersweet acidity is accentuated. The restrained acidity broadens the combination with food.
Personally, I think the flavor of the rice and the lingering aftertaste could have been brought out more.
I would like to match this wine with izakaya menus. Especially grilled or boiled fish. Since it is different from regular sake, it should be a very interesting marriage.
Kouei Kiku is really at a high level. It should be a threat to Nabeshima, also from Saga.
The cosy price of 1,925 yen including tax. I have been drinking too much summer sake lately, so it had a punch.
