I've always wanted to try Otters Junmai Daiginjo 45, not 39. Miraculously, Tokyu Department Store had it in stock, and I bought it immediately. And at the regular price of 3,300 yen tax included! It seems that the sake brewery wants to move to the 30%/90%. I guess the less tangy taste is more appealing to everyone!
Let's compare it to Hakkaisan Special Honjozo! I'll have to open the Hakkaisan today, since two bottles of it take up space in the vegetable room.
Now, the otters. For snacks, I had grilled ash-dried Akinatai fish. The Hakkaisan is as clear and straightforward as ever, but the Otters has a straightforward flavor of malted rice reminiscent of the sake lees I used to eat a lot (my mom forced me to eat it!) and a gorgeous acidity like champagne. This one is sure to be popular. But in summer, I still prefer white Yebisu with a chaser.
