I drank S type in No.6 series before and this is my first time to drink R type.
From the aroma, it has the full-blown Shinsei character.
First of all, it has extremely little bitterness. That may be why everyone wants to drink it so much. Instead, there is an astringent taste, which is also pleasant and gives a sense of quality.
The acidity is stronger than normal sake, but weaker than sake made with white malted rice. Because of the acidity, it is not very sweet.
It is not harsh at all, as is typical of low-alcohol sakes, but it is moderately full and has a decent umami flavor for its 13% alcohol content! The 13% alcohol content I have had so far has made me drink it like a juice, but this is not a juice, but rather a solid alcoholic beverage. It has an interesting flavor that is quite exquisitely balanced!
Light yet mellow. Mellow yet light.
Soft but with stimulating acidity. Stimulating acidity, yet soft.
It is delicious even if you drink it quickly and unconsciously. It is also delicious when you taste it properly.
It is difficult to put into words, but if you drink it, you will understand this feeling.
