We had Katsuyama from Sendai Date Family Katsuyama Sake Brewery in Miyagi Prefecture. This is a brewery with a history of 320 years. "The first time I heard of Katsuyama was when it was selected as a CHAMPION SAKE at the 2019 IWC. It is the best sake in the world, and won No.1 out of about 1500 brands exhibited that year in 9 categories. There are several types of Katsuyama: AKATSUKI, REN, DEN, GEN, KEN, LEI, EN, and this time we had "KEN" which is the CHAMPION SAKE of IWC. The aroma of melon spreads lightly. The first attack is a fruity and gentle sweetness. It gives an impression as if fruit juice is added. When you put it in your mouth, there is a plump rice flavor, and the second half is sharp with a firm bitterness. The bitterness in the latter half is stronger than the Ichibai Suisei I drank the other day. It is a sake that seems to go well with Japanese cuisine that uses soy sauce, such as sushi and sashimi. Is this the best in the world? But since the judges are from overseas, it would be useful to remember that this is a sake that overseas people would like. ★★★★
