Takatsugu
Expedition & Train Sake. When traveling on a trip, I can't resist the combination of local sake with a boxed meal from the train station. We opened a bottle of Takasago Shuzo's "Hourabuki".
This junmai sake is brewed with "Yukihikari," Hokkaido's sake rice grown in Nakafurano, a farming village in Hokkaido.
It has a nice acidity and umami flavor that would be great with dried seafood. It would be fun to drink it hot, which is not possible since we were in the car.
The name of the sake, "Hourabuki" (meaning "blowing a big trumpet" in Japanese), is derived from the idea of "living a year in a cheerful mood by drinking delicious local sake. A bottle of sake that made me feel warm and happy.
