This Junmai Ginjo is made with Benkei, a fantastic sake rice.
Benkei is a really cool name 😀.
I looked it up and it was developed in Hyogo prefecture in 1924.
It used to be a popular sake rice, but with the advent of Yamada Nishiki, you don't see it anymore.
I didn't even know there was a rice called Benkei 😲
The selection of sake rice at Denshu always surprises me.
When you pour it into a glass, you can't help but smell the ginjo aroma that rises up.
The sweet and sour flavors of the rice are well-balanced and full-bodied, and it goes down the throat with a beautiful aftertaste.
It is a sake with a beautiful aftertaste.
