Purchased at the Umeda Hanshin Department Store weekly not long ago. I am not familiar with Shimonoseki Brewery's sake, so I asked the person who was selling it about it. He told me that they have other brands such as Sekimusume, ALLBLUE, Kaikyo, and Shido 38. All of them were attractive, but I chose this one, which was my first choice. The brewer's pride and joy is a high-end junmai ginjo sake. It is almost a daiginjo, with 50% polished rice. It is the most highly rated junmai ginjo-shu by Shimonoseki Sake Brewery in domestic and international sake competitions. It has won the highest gold medal in the premium junmai category of the Wine Glass Delicious Sake Awards two years in a row" (from the website). Does it taste mellow? (My taste buds are not to be trusted.) I think it fits with a variety of dishes. I drank it at room temperature, but I have a feeling that my impression will change more if I drink it chilled... Anyway, it is said to be a confident product of the brewery. Speaking of Shimonoseki, I am reminded of the Genpei War. The battle of Dannoura in "Kamakura-dono no Jusannin" currently being aired was also worth watching. The Shimonoseki brewery is located a little bit far from the sea, so the Genpei battle may be far away, but the brewery seems to be within walking distance from the station, so I was thinking about visiting the brewery to enjoy a tasting, and I gulped down the sake.
