Itako, where the brewery is located, is said to be so famous for its irises that people say, "Iris is the name of Ushioi.
The aroma is of chestnuts and rice (not rice with chestnuts), and the sake is surprisingly not rice-like, although the acidity is derived from grains. The acidity is from grains, but when you put it that way, it has a rice-like sweetness.
