Incidentally, the Sudoh family has been brewing sake since the end of the Heian Period (1141, the first year of the Eiji Period), and is the oldest brewery in Japan, now in its 55th generation. The brewery is located in Kasama City (formerly Tomobe Town) in the center of Ibaraki Prefecture.
