Yamagata Sanko" is a Junmai Daiginjo planned by the Yamagata Sake Brewers Association, with the goal of making the highest quality sake in Yamagata Prefecture = the highest quality sake in the world.
The rice used for this sake is "Yuki-Majin" rice, which was developed in Yamagata Prefecture for use in daiginjos, and which has won the Prefectural Governor's Award, the Chairman of the Steering Committee Award of the Yamagata Prefectural Headquarters of All Agriculture, and the Chairman of the Sake Rice Council Award at the annual Yamagata Prefecture Excellent Sake Rice Contest. The sake is then brewed by the brewery with the highest ranking in the sake competition judged by the Yamagata Sake Brewers Association. Yamagata Sanko is a Junmai Daiginjo made with the best Yamagata sake rice of the year by the brewery with the best production of the year.
